Want to experience the Schuylkill River in a whole new way? You should try dragon boating! On Wednesday, March 23rd at 6PM and Saturday March 26 at 2PM, come and find out what dragon boating is all about at the Norristown Dragon Boat Club's informal meeting at the Norristown Library on Swede St.
There is no experience necessary; there are no cuts for this team. There are no balls to catch, no baskets to make. Anyone can get involved with dragon boating if they want to. There are 22 people on a dragon boat: 20 paddlers, a drummer, and a steers person. Don't know what a drummer or steers person is? Come to the meeting to find out!
The Norristown Dragon Boat Club is hoping to start a youth team to row in fun races this summer. They are looking for as many children as they can get. Middle School and High School ages can compete, but if you know an elementary school-aged child who wants to try dragon boating, you should bring them out, too!
Children will work as a team, gain confidence, help self esteem, and make new friends; the big goal is to race in the Independence Dragon Boat Regatta, June 4th in Philadelphia.
Practices will start on the Schuylkill River during the first week of April.
